Ouarzazate located at an altitude of 1.160 meters/3.806 feet in the middle of an arid plateau, was built by the French as a garrison in the late 1920's. It is the gateway to the Great Moroccan South and the crossroads of the main routes leading to the Souss, Dades and Drâa valleys. The town is renowned for its pottery and carpets and also for its studios where many international films are shot.
Climate: quite hot during summer. In winter mild to cold , cold at night, rains occasionally.
